Khandas to Bhimashankar by Ladder Way

Bhimashankar is an ideal place to go, if you like to be in natures company. This is the place where the Bhima river originates. It has the beautiful Shiva Temple. It is one of the 5 Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra. In all there are 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. Though Bhimashankar has religious importance, it is place worth visiting for all nature lovers. Its beauty enhances in Monsoon Season. Trek to Bhimashankar is known to be one of the best treks in Sahyadri ranges and It has Two Routes to climb from Karjat Region. First One is Ganesh Ghat a simple One & second is ascending via Shidi Ghat (Ladder Route) Little Adventurous & Steep Walk. It is a tough route but well defined one through steep climbs up and down, Crossing Streams, Waterfalls deep into the forests, Climbing Rocks and of-course Ladders affixed into rock faces.   • Departure Date & Time: 19 August by sharp 10.00 pm from Shivajinagar Railway Station.
  • Arrival Date & Time:  20 August around 09.00 pm at SP College, Tilak Road.
    (We may come to Pune ONE Hour Before OR After the given time)
  • Meeting Time & Place:  19 August by Sharp 09.45 pm at Shivajinagar Railway Station.
  • Walking Time (estimated):  05 hours one side to reach the Top from Khandas. (Only One Side Walk).
  • Age Group: 15 to 50 years (people above 50 years will be allowed after meeting at Explorers Office).
  • Difficulty LevelMedium (Difficulty grade deals with the actual climbing difficulty.)
  • Endurance LevelHigh (Endurance Grade deals with the stamina and total physical strength required.)
  • Batch Limit: 50 Participants.
  • Mode of Transport:  Pune to Lonavala by Local then Lonavala to Karjat by Passenger / Express whichever is available. Karjat to Khandas by State Transport & Bhimashankar to Pune by Private Non AC High back Bus.
  • Route: Pune – Lonavala – Karjat – Khandas – Bhimashankar – Ghodegaon – Manchar – Nashik Phata – Pune.

    After attendance Departure for Lonavala by Local. No Seat reservation for Local / Train Journey.

    11.30 pm

    Reach Lonavala. Wait at Lonavala Station for 30 Minutes. Immediately Catch the Train towards Karjat.

    20 August

    02.30 am

    Reach Karjat Railway Station. Take a Rest for 3 Hours on Platform only. Bring Light Bedding for Rest.

    06.00 am

    Gather at Bus Stand. Catch the State Transport bus moving towards Khandas.

    06.45 am

    Reach Khandas Village. Morning Tea & Breakfast at Village.

    07.15 am

    Start a trek towards Bhimashankar via Ladder Way. Approx walk of 5 Hours.

    12.30 pm

    Reach Bhimashankar.

    01.30 pm

    Lunch at Bhimashankar.

    02.00 pm

    Start a walk of 2/4 kms towards our bus depending on parking area.

    03.00 pm

    Changing in a Bus only.

    Start return journey towards Pune.

    • Napkin / Towel.
    • Extra Dress, Shawl & News Paper (To take a Rest at Karjat Railway Station).

    • Shoes Compulsory in a Good Condition while trekking.
    • Dress Code – T-shirt, Flexible Track pant. (HALF PANT NOT ALLOWED).

    • Don’t keep valuable things while trekking.
    • Use plastic carry bags to save your mobile & Wallet.
    • Avoid Jean pant for inconvenience in Walking / Climbing.

    • Don’t expect similiar food quality of your home town. Try local food to have some different experience.
