Want to enjoy the pristine Himalayan wilderness and have a memorable trekking experience, which takes you in a different tangent altogether, Welcome to SHIRGAN–TUNGU (PRE-MONSOON) BASE TREK (A GROUP OF GIGANTIC FOLDED MOUNTAIN VALLEYS). This exotic and immensely rewarding trek encompasses the mountainous vistas of the divinely beautiful Kullu & Manali valley and beyond Pirpanjal valleys and traverses the high altitude passes of ‘Chhoye Pande’ means at the top solid heap of rocks of lateral moraine. Couple of Saur (Lake) and over (4450 m) passes to Malana Village accompanies this mountaineering base of Shirgan-Tungu.

  • Day 1

    Pune – Mumbai – Delhi (3AC Train Journey)
    All Participants have to report at Explorers Office by Sharp 6.30 am. Depart for Bandra Terminus at 7 am. Breakfast on the way. Reach Bandra around 11 am (Mumbai Participants can Join at Bandra Station at their Own Arrangements.) Board 12216 DEE Garibrath Express (3 AC) 12.00 Noon & proceed towards Delhi.
    Overnight Train Journey.

    Day 2

    Delhi to Manali (Volvo Journey – 575 Kms, 15 Hours)

    Reach Delhi Rohila Station at 11.00 am. After Lunch depart for Manali by Semi Sleeper Volvo around 6 pm.
    (By AIR or Delhi Participants can Join us at Volvo Pick up Point at their Own arrangements.)
    Overnight Bus Journey.

    Day 3

    Manali Shuru (Base Camp) 5 kms, 15 Minutes

    Arrive at Manali Bus Stand around 9 am. Onward Journey for just 5 kms by Local Sumo. On arrival at base camp tents will be allotted. After Introduction session will move to Jamdagni Rishi Temple with backpack for acclimatisation Trek.
    Overnight at Shuru Campsite.

    Day 4

    Acclimatization Trek – above 7000 ft – 5 hours)

    Acclimatization Trek to get your body used to the altitude & Climate. Today’s trek is very relaxing just to check up ones physical conditions and also better for acclimatization. After completion of muscularity exercises and return back to Lunch at base camp. Stay overnight at Base Camp at Shuru.

    Day 5

    Shuru – Negi Dugh (7800 feet – 4 hours)

    After Breakfast & warm up, Trek starts from Shuru, down to Jagatsukh village to Dhuhagan Bridge, and over the Dhuhagan River to the other side of the valley. Trek starts with a gradual climb up & gradient increases gently and at some portions one has to climb in a zigzag way. The Negi Dugh is located high at a vantage point and is surrounded by Cedar trees. In the evening explore camp and move to evening activities.

    Day 6

    Negi Dugh – Kurrdi – (9990 ft – 4 hrs.)
    Today’s trek proceeds in a zigzag way through dense forest of pines and Silver fir. Once the zigzag trail ends, it is a steep ascent amidst silver fir trees. Some portions of the climb are to be tackled in a horizontal way till the steep ridge of Kurrdi. The tough climb starts again along the steep ridge for an hour after which it is a moderate walk along the slanted slope right up to the campsite Kurrdi. Kurrdi is a luminous point and one can have a vast view of Kullu, Chanderkhani Pass and Manali valley. In the evening explore camp and move to evening activities.

    Day 7

    Kurradi – Dharanoo Dugh (11286 feet – 4 hours)
    The trek starts with a steep section at the start, through forest of silver fir, Bhujpattar, oak and chestnut. At the end of the steep section trekkers have to negotiate moderate climbs through forestry side ridge up to Moar Thach and Samalach Thach. From Samalach Thach the route ascends on a moderate grassy slope and then onto a moderate horizontal traverses above the tree line to the campsite. Dharanoo Dugh is located in a grassy meadow on the hill of the Shirgan -Tungu on one side of the Pirpanjal range. From the camp, there is an enchanting view of the Dhauladhar range, Chhota Bhangal, kalyani Pass and its lofty mountain peaks. from campsite you can also have a full view of Manali valley, and the distant snowcapped mountains of Beas Kund, Rohtang Pass massif and Khanaul & Chhika. In the evening enjoy some fun adventure activities.

    Day 8

    Dharanu Dugh – Base of Shirgan -Tungu (12375 ft) & back to Banaad / Jammu Dugh Campsite (2500 mtr 6 hours)
    The trail proceeds on the long snowy slanted ridge and slowly begins to ascend towards Shirgan-Tungu Base. The first magnificent view of the Shirgan Tungu Peak comes in glance after gaining a 15 minutes’ walk on the snowy ridge and as you ascends and gets nearer to you. The climb along the ridge though enjoyable is windy with a chill wind blowing.

    While descending down to campsite have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain peaks of the Pirpanjal Range, Chanderkhani pass & Malana, Dhauladhar range, Chhota Bhangal, and further beyond the greater Himalayan ranges. Trail descends same way down in a zigzag way through Moar Thach (3235m), to Kurrdi and at little down Kurrdi is a diversion to Jammu Dugh and Banad. If time permits will take some adventure activities.

    Day 9

    Banaad / Jammu Dugh – Base Camp via Sajla village (4 hours)
    The trek encompasses a 1 hour steep descent initially and then in a zigzag way till the river basin through dense forest of blue pine, Cedar, oak, silver fir. Rest for a while, and then walk on manmade path to Sajla village. The Sajla village is having a vast meadow at the forefront of Vishnu Narayan temple. Visit the Vishnu Narayan Temple and look around. Transfer to shuru Campsite by Vehicle
    Overnight at Base Camp.

    Day 10

    Manali – Delhi (Volvo Journey 15 Hours)
    Morning at Leisure. After breakfast freshen-up. Keep your bags ready. Post Lunch will move to Magical Mall road for shopping. Evening depart towards Delhi by Volvo.

    Day 11

    Delhi to Mumbai (3 AC Train Journey)
    Arrival at Delhi around 6.30 am. Board Train 12215 Garibrath Express 3 AC for Bandra Terminus by 8.55 am.

    Day 12

    Mumbai to Pune
    Arrival at Bandra Terminus at 7.35 am. Proceed to Pune by Private AC Vehicle. Reach Pune around 2 pm. Relax at home with everlasting Memories.

    Tips for Happy Shirghan-Tungu Trek

    • Familiarize yourself to new shoes before bringing them to the Shirghan-Tungu Trek. Shoes must be large enough so that you can wriggle your toes with socks on.
    • Please avoid perfumes, Deodorants, scented oils on trails as these disturb the wild animals.
    • For Shirghan-Tungu Trek be sure to bring along your pullovers, jerkins / wind cheaters, monkey caps, gloves, Thermal wear, etc.
    • As protection against sudden downpour, do pack your clothes / equipment in separate plastic bags before putting them in the haversack.
    • Try to avoid Headphones or gossip with friends. You may miss many wonderful animals and birds in the bargain.
    • Keep our environment clean. Please carry all non-biodegradable (plastic) waste back with you.
    • Do not keep valuable while trekking / Camping.
    • Use plastic carry bags to save your mobile & Wallet.
    • Avoid Jean pant for inconvenience in Walking / Climbing.
    • Always keep your Original Photo ID with you.
    • Don’t expect similar food quality of your home town. Try Local food to have some different Experience.
    • Respect the Local Religion & Traditions.
    • While taking Photographs don’t click photos of Local people without their permission.
    • Keep Healthy environment & helpful nature while Trekking & at the time of Activity.
    • Do not litter on the trails.

    “Leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time, and shoot nothing but photographs and bring back nothing but memories”

    1. Food: Pure Vegetarian Food will be served by Explorers. If you want Non veg. Food, you can take it at Extra Cost at Actual. Please take the Railway Food (Tea, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner) in Proper time at Own Cost. 
    2. Medicine: Bring personal medicines, if any & the necessary things given in a list.
    3. Railway Reservations: It is not possible for Explorers to ensure that the Participants will get Railway Reservations together or in the same compartment because of random seat allotment by Railway Computerized System.
    4. Transport & Jungle Safari: For Jungle Safari six people can travel in a Gypsy, but it is not sure that same Group / Family can travel in a same Gypsy. If any Natural Calamity or Technical problem results into late or Safari get cancelled then Explorers or the leaders of Explorers are not responsible for same & in that case No refund is admissible.
    5. Jungle Safari Zone: For Jungle Safari Explorers will choose the Safari zones as per the availability. We are not giving commitment of any specific zone Safari.
    6. Room Allotment: In case of Odd number of Participants or Male / Female Ratio, It is not possible for Explorers to ensure that same Group / Family will accommodate in a same Room. TWO Persons on Bed & TWO persons will be provided by Mattresses, Blanket, Pillow, etc.
    7. Hot Water: In Early Morning Warm Water will be served for Refreshment & in Afternoon Hot Water for Bath.
    8. Drinking Water: Mineral Water Bottles will not be provided by the Explorers throughout the Tour.
    9. During the Camp all the participants should obey all the instructions and decisions taken by the authorised representative of Explorers or Camp Leader.
    10. During any type of event, in case of any dispute for whatsoever reasons, the decision of the Camp Leader or authorized representative of Explorers shall be final and binding on all the participants. The Participants shall be solely liable for the risks, responsibilities and consequences.
    11. Medical Treatment: In case of any medical ailments, a disorder etc. which the participants are suffering or have suffered from, it is his/her responsibility to inform the organisers in advance, before commencement of the camp or trek. If required, the participant(s) will have to take medical treatment from the doctor / attendant available on the campsite or from the nearest available medical centre or hospital. The expenses for all medical treatment and arrangements for the same will be solely borne by the participant ONLY. The Camp Leader or the authorised representative shall have complete discretion to continue the camp without the participant(s) suffering from medical problem.
    12. Photographs or Video Clips: Explorers reserves the right to use Photographs / Video Clips of the tourist taken on tour and / or given by tourist, for promotion of the Company’s Business without obtaining prior permission of the concerned tourist.
    13. Consumption of liquor, tobacco products, cigarette etc. is strictly prohibited during any type of Event. The trek will be considered over only when we are back to our decided arrival place.
    14. Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them. Any breach of the above two rules will be taken seriously, and will be removed from the trek or camp, and no refund is admissible in such cases.
    15. In case of any injury, sickness, accident, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Explorers, it’s instructors, organisers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.
    16. If the participants have enrolled for the activities like wildlife camping or any type of adventure sports activity, then all the risks and responsibilities related to and arising from such activities shall be solely upon such participants and Explorers shall not be liable in any manner whatsoever.
    17. Insurance: Neither participants nor any event shall be insured by Explorers, unless mentioned specifically.
    18. Please Note that any Claims, disputes, court case, etc. shall be subject to Pune Jurisdiction only.
